Wikipedia

I am a Wikipedia volunteer: little stuff, spelling and syntactical corrections, some link adjustments and little else. As a child, I used to spend many hours reading the entries in the paper encyclopaedia I had at home, and even now my favourite activity is surfing the Internet. I learn a lot by correcting Wikipedia entries as well as by browsing the web.

Why I wrote this site?

Because I am tired of giving content to social networks that then make a mockery of it. I much prefer websites and blogs, as well as having control over what I write. As you can see, it is not a blog in the classical sense of the term. I think I can also talk about myself through the articles I read on the internet, the music I listen to, what I like and things like that.

Why I wrote this site with emacs?

There are several reasons:

• I like emacs and if I don't use it I forget the basic commands
• writing it by hand, I am forced not to forget the html tags
• writing the code by hand I am forced to keep the structure of the site simple, concentrating on the (few) contents
• I have only 100 MB on this server and a basically text-only site takes up very little space
• As Piero Scaruffi says, "I dislike graphics. Pictures slow down your computer. When you want to look at pretty pictures, you go to a museum. You browse the web to find information, as quickly as possible".

Why "kickmule"?

I no longer remember it. It was the first username I used on the Internet, almost 30 years ago now, and I have always kept it.
